The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach transforms La Coquille Club

The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach created a country club niche with a maritime design in the transformation of the La Coquille Club. The oceanfront resort collaborated with International Design Fusion (IDF) to present a design heavily influenced by the sea, boats and east coast beach towns.

The color palette was fashioned as a nautical statement of white and blue, with contrast added to the white walls and architectural details by delineating the millwork with blue indigo accents.

Timber was against a white sculpted background used for the ceiling, incorporating the effects of woods found on the woodwork and paneling of boats, yacht clubs and beach homes.

For accessories, featured are the area rug in the main seating area; wood tones complementing the sand tones of the walls; blue Ritz-Carlton glassware on the dining tables; and the white and blue ticking fabric on the ocean liner style chair.

Also featured are a few authentic marine accoutrements and silver embellishments, including starfish throw pillows, boat replicas, glass hurricane candle holders, and boat rope coiled up inside of a decorative metal bowl. Antique art plus vintage black and white photos featuring ships, ocean views and other traditional Cape Cod scenes, along with Palm Beach scenes complete the place. The furniture is assembled in clusters of seating areas, with a series of lounge chairs and sofas.

The indoor and outdoor dining experience adjoin the club spaces, while the private bar with cocktails integrates the living and dining area as one cohesive social place.

The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach is a Forbes Five Star and 2011 AAA Five Diamond Award property, which completed a more-than $130-million transformation in 2009.
