Shamin Hotels opens Courtyard by Marriott at Virginia Center Commons

Richmond, Va.--Shamin Hotels, one of the leading hotel management companies on the East Coast, today announces the opening of its first hotel at Virginia Center Commons, a Courtyard by Marriott. This is the first Courtyard by Marriott built by Shamin Hotels and only the 5th Courtyard by Marriott in the country featuring the new "Centro" contemporary design concept. The Courtyard by Marriott is the first of three hotels Shamin plans to add to Virginia Center Commons.

"Virginia Center Commons is not only a hub for businesses, but also one of the largest shopping areas in the Richmond region - nipping at the heels of Short Pump," said Neil Amin, chief executive officer of Shamin Hotels. "Over the past several years, VCC has grown so vastly that it has become a destination unto itself. We hope that with the addition of the Courtyard by Marriott along with our two other hotels, we will be able to meet the demand in that area and provide comfortable accommodations for all travelers and ample, quality meeting space for businesses."

The new Courtyard by Marriott stands 4 stories tall totaling 80,886 square feet of space. It features 150 rooms with wireless internet access, along with a 1,736 square foot ballroom, a 345 square foot executive boardroom and a 728 square foot pre-function room. The new Courtyard by Marriott will offer a full-service restaurant, a lobby lounge, a business center and business library, plus a fitness center and an indoor pool with jacuzzi. In addition, the Courtyard by Marriott will showcase beautiful landscaped grounds complete with a terrace and gazebo for guests' enjoyment.

The new contemporary design of the Courtyard by Marriott focuses on drawing guests out of their rooms to the very open and bright usable lobby space welcoming guests with vivid contrasting colors, including blue, green, orange and red. A traditional front desk has been replaced with separate welcome podiums to create more personal and private interactions when guests check in. Flexible seating options range from a communal table in the middle of the action, to more private media booths with high-definition televisions, to a more intimate, semi-enclosed lounge area.

A signature element of the new lobby is the exclusive Courtyard GoBoard™, a 58-inch LCD touch screen packed with local information, maps, weather, and news, business and sports headlines. Guests can navigate using the touch screen to find restaurants, local attractions and directions.

Located at 10077 Brook Road (Route 1) near the entrance to Virginia Center Commons, the Courtyard by Marriott is perfectly located for business travelers and tourists interested in golfing at Virginia Crossings or wine tasting at the James River Cellars or enjoying the great shopping.

Shamin Hotels operates more than 24 hotel properties in the Commonwealth and has fourteen hotels in development including Richmond's premiere Hilton Conference Center in Short Pump that will boast over 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Shamin will also be opening three new hotels at the Richmond airport and recently opened two new hotels in Colonial Heights.
