Shangri-La Hotels opens Qinhuangdao by the Golden Dream Bay

International luxury hotel brand Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts opened its newest property in the Haigang District of Qinhuangdao, a small seaside city. Shangri-La Hotel, Qinhuangdao is located along Bohai Bay.

Qinhuangdao in Hebei province dates back more than 2,000 years. The city bears the first Emperor of China's name, Qin Shi Huang, and remnants of the eastern end of the Great Wall. Next to the hotel are attractions such as the Olympic Centre, National Forest Park and Xin'ao Marine World. Shanhaiguan Airport is 35 minutes away by car.

The Golden Dream Bay is home to the 23-story hotel, a new glass building offering views all around. Inside the light-filled spaces, plum blossoms that are found naturally in Qinhuangdao can be seen as art and light installations, woven into carpet patterns and embellishing headboards in the guestrooms.

The wonders of nature surrounding the hotel are translated through to the use of golden tones and creams in each of the hotel's 330 guestrooms and suites. Sized from about 484 square feet to 1,453 square feet, with full-length windows that look out on the seaside setting, the rooms have a contrast of light and dark wood, a sofa, desk space, marble appointed bathrooms and Shangri-La amenities and conveniences. Most rooms offer a balcony overlooking Bohai Bay.

Available from levels 20 to 22 are the Horizon Club rooms. The Horizon Club Lounge is on level 23.

Other amenities include: the hotel's wellness facilities comprising about an 82-foot indoor free-form pool, gym, Jacuzzi and spa with nine treatment rooms. Bicycle rentals are also available.

For dining, the property offers: Cafe Qin, boasting theater kitchens and an outdoor area of the hotel's garden, which seats 60 people for alfresco gatherings and has sea views; the contemporarily designed Qin Xiang Ge Chinese restaurant – accented by dark ebony paneling and maroon upholstery; and the Lobby Lounge with panoramic vistas of Bohai Bay.

On levels two and three of the hotel are 11 function rooms including a Grand Ballroom, which is the city's largest at over 17,846 square feet and 30 feet high.
