Smith & Firestone redesigns La Quinta Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort

La Quinta Resort & Club, which first opened in 1926, announced a multi-million dollar restoration eyed to revive the resort with a new look in line with the property's history and desert surroundings. The resort-wide renovation encompasses upgrades of all guest casitas by fall 2014, followed by a redesign of the villas, main lobby, public spaces and a re-imagined pool experience. The project will also infuse the resort's 45 acres with additional bougainvillea plants, roses and citrus trees.

Drawing inspiration from the resort's desert environs, Los Angeles-based firm Smith & Firestone created a residential-style design for the resort's guestrooms and luxury suites. Set in an earthen palette of ivory, terracotta and chocolate, guestrooms have custom tile work and wrought iron elements, new furniture and carpet, and two-toned blocked drapery panels. Upon completion, citrus-hued pillows and throws will adorn Wing-back style headboards and contemporary Victorian chairs, while upgraded lighting and blue-sky accessories will be used in each bathroom.

New amenities include 42- to 47-inch flat-screen high-definition televisions, mini refrigerators, Keurig coffee makers, charging stations with dual USB ports, upgraded fireplaces and photography inspired by the history of the resort and its surroundings.
