Studio Collective designs Innovative Dining Group's Chinese restaurant

Innovative Dining Group (IDG) opened its new restaurant Chi Lin, bringing a Hong Kong-inspired experience to West Hollywood. Blending Hong Kong's heritage and cultural influences, interior designer Studio Collective designed the restaurant.

Designed to reflect the colors and tone of the Hong Kong skyline, Chi Lin has nature-inspired elements. Hand-lacquered red Chinese wooden doors with golden brass rivets mark the entrance. Beyond the entry, a bar and lounge have a dark textured wood and black granite bar, decorative Chinese cinnabar pottery and vintage mirror panels.

The main dining room includes butterfly-filled Chinese garden vignettes, which track the flight of the white butterfly, casted between double-mirror “infinity” frames. More than 300 hand-made Chinese lanterns light the dining room ceiling and reflect off black mirror-topped tables. The floor is crafted from ebonized oak and clefted black Chinese granite.

An open-air patio with retractable roof has outdoor elements, including a sculpted decorative metal screen and bubbling up-lit oriental fountain.

The menu at Chi Lin reflects the partnership with Chinese culinary talent Cecile Tang of JOSS.

Chi Lin is the newest addition to IDG's restaurant portfolio, which includes the recent opening of RivaBella, located next door, in January 2013, Los Angeles' Soleto in July 2012, and B Grill in the Terminal 7 of LAX in March 2013. IDG operates seven restaurants and lounges in Los Angeles: Sushi Roku (with locations in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Pasadena), BOA Steakhouse (with locations in West Hollywood and Santa Monica), Katana in West Hollywood, and Robata Bar in Santa Monica. Other concepts, located in the W Hollywood, include the modern California bistro Delphine and two adjacent lounges: Station Hollywood and the Living Room. The company also operates a Sushi Roku at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and a Sushi Roku at the W in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Chi Lin is located at 9201 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, Calif., 90069, adjacent to RivaBella, and is open for dinner daily. Valet parking is available.
