MAMA Shelter announced its expansion into the US with the first property scheduled to open in Los Angeles on May 15.
Created seven years ago by the Trigano Family, co-founders of Club Med, MAMA Shelter began as a boutique Paris hotel before expanding to Marseilles, Lyon, Istanbul and Bordeaux.
Located in Hollywood’s Selma and Wilcox neighborhood, near such sites as the Chinese Theatre, the six-floor MAMA Shelter will feature a design by Thierry Gaugain.
The rooms will have 27-inch iMacs (including television, Criterion Collection movies and video/photo booth), free Wi-Fi connectivity and fun touches like the Bert and Ernie lampshades.
Hotel facilities will include a gym and restaurant on the rooftop, which will offer a near-360-degree view from the Hollywood sign, to Downtown, to South Bay, to the Westside. Chef Benjamin Bailly from Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Petrossian and Fraiche designed the menus.
