Upward Projects, Shepley Bulfinch Debut The Windsor, Churn

The Windsor and Churn

Upward Projects and the Phoenix office of Shepley Bulfinch have announced the completion of The Windsor and Churn, a mid-century strip-mall building transformed into an “all-American” restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and a separate artisan ice cream house featuring pastries and coffee.

Located on Central Avenue in downtown Phoenix, the 3,000-square-foot building is a re-use project, preserving the original structure of the 1940's building and updating the electrical and mechanical systems.

Owned by Upward Projects and designed by Shepley Bulfinch, the building's additions include an exterior patio and courtyard spaces for outdoor dining. Reclaimed interior features throughout the property include mid-century Dutch school chairs as well as original brick from walls replaced as pavers on the patio. Additional alfresco design details include mid-century Italian chrome chairs and white wire patio loungers.
