WATG designs Haikou Marriott Hotel in Hainan Province, China

Marriott International announced the first hotel under its flagship Marriott Hotels brand in Haikou, Hainan Province. This 386-room business hotel is under a long-term management agreement with the owner, Shenzhen Tiley Real Estate Group. The Haikou Marriott Hotel joins the other three Marriott International properties, adding to the company’s portfolio of four hotels in Hainan province.

Haikou, the provincial capital of Hainan Province in southern China, is known as China’s International Tourism Island. It is home to seascape and historical sites, as well as dozens of newly-developed tourist regions and attractions. Haikou Marriott Hotel is situated on a scenic section of the shoreline, with guestrooms offering tropical ocean views and private balconies. The architecture studio WATG drew inspiration from the cultural heritage of China to create the eight buildings within the hotel premises, blending traditional oriental architecture with the natural and scenic surroundings.

A short walking distance to the Hainan International Exhibition Centre, the Marriott Haikou Hotel is 45 minutes away from Haikou Meilan International airport, a 10-minute drive to the railway station, and a 15-minute drive away from downtown .

The hotel is also home to some dining outlets. Island Bistro All Day Dining is designed with a resort-like feel. Man Ho Restaurant serves authentic Cantonese flavors and houses 10 private dining rooms boasting a private balcony with garden views and exclusive entrances. The Big Fish Bar has a 360-degree open kitchen. The Helicon Bar & Music Room is an interpretation of the classic hotel bar compete with four private Karaoke rooms, two mahjong rooms and a billiard table. The Greatroom lobby and lobby lounge is ideal for work, meetings or causal social gatherings. The pool service bars has tropical scenery. Meanwhile, the Executive Lounge, located on the 8th floor of the hotel's west wing, offers business services as well as complimentary food and drinks for executive floor guests.

Other features include: three outdoor pools and The Spa Centre, which has hot spring pools for soaking, steam saunas, dry saunas, Jacuzzi tubs, foot massage rooms and wellness and beauty treatment rooms.
