Westin Galleria Dallas rejuvenates its presence

DALLAS, TX (March 25, 2009) ─  Westin Galleria Dallas, part of the Starwood Hotel and Resorts Worldwide, Inc. family, will cap off its two-year multi-million dollar renovation with a grand re-opening celebration, “A Presence Rejuvenated,” on Thursday, April 2. Invited guests will experience a fashion show by Macy’s with preferred vendors BCBG Maxazria and Kenneth Cole, entertainment by Semu “DJ Reach” Namakajo and a ribbon-cutting ceremony as the re-imagining of the hotel is officially introduced.

“For more than 26 years, we’ve sustained a reputation for modern luxury and relaxation by offering business and leisure travelers a total renewal experience from the moment they arrive,” said John Everett, general manager of the Westin Galleria Dallas. “We’ve worked diligently to ensure that our standard for indulgence continues to resonate with guests seeking the ultimate experience. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results, and we look forward to celebrating with our corporate leadership, friends and guests on April 2.”

The hotel, which is centrally located at IH-635 and Dallas North Tollway, embarked upon a total re-imagining of the property to incorporate a more modern, sophisticated and luxurious design for its guests in January 2007. Designed by Steinberg Architects and completed by the VCC Construction Company, the project left no area untouched and included the redesign and expansion to 447 guestrooms and suites, a restyled lobby, new amenities and features, including sky rooms, an executive lounge, a resort-style pool and cabana destination, a 6,000 square foot ballroom as well as the critically-acclaimed The Second Floor Bistro and Bar.

All guestrooms combine a neutral color palette, clean lines, and timeless furnishings to invoke a serene, comforting experience. The rooms include the hotel’s popular Heavenly products which are currently celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary of trend setting in the hotel industry.  New noise-resistant and energy-efficient glass windows were installed, and artwork created by Texas artist James H. Evans adorns the walls.

Alberto Meda, renowned Italian designer and engineer, brought his signature elegant simplicity and organic design principles to each guest bathroom, while French designer, Philippe Starck, brought his stylized, streamlined and organic designs to the corner suites.

“Given the fashion-related influence from our relationship with the Galleria Dallas shopping complex, we really wanted to create a synergy of style elements with the tranquility and rejuvenation of Westin’s philosophy to create a timeless, captivating space,” said Everett. “As such, we channeled our efforts into an organic theme, inspired by tree elements and decorative flowers indigenous to Texas that greet guests from the moment they arrive. The neutral color palette, clean lines, and unique touches throughout the hotel are not just visually-inspiring, but they invoke a serene, comforting experience for our guests.”

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres with music provided by DJ Reach. At 6:30 p.m. a ribbon cutting will take place as the cabana and pool destination is unveiled. The fashion show, sponsored by Macy’s BCBG and Tommy Hilfiger and guided by television personality and local event planner and America’s sassiest lifestyle guru, Steve Kemble, will start at 7:00 p.m.

Galleria Dallas’ Beauty Live event slated for April 3-5, Beauty Live is the largest show of renewal at Galleria Dallas and will feature best-selling author and Oprah regular, Bob Greene, and Dr. 90210’s Dr. Robert Rey.
