WOHA, RSP Architects, Surbana collaborate for Crowne Plaza Changi expansion

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced its latest signing in Singapore with the OUE Group for a new 243-room extension to Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The management agreement increases the business hotel's room count by more than 75 percent, propelling IHG's development pipeline in the country past the 1,000-room mark.

Involved in the development of the new 10-story building are WOHA, a Singapore-based architecture practice; RSP Architects Planners and Engineers; and Surbana, a building consultant, for mechanical and electrical works.

The current 320-room Crowne Plaza Changi Airport opened in 2008. The new 10-story wing will be located adjacent to the existing Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. When completed in 2016, the expansion will expand the Crowne Plaza to 563 rooms, with facilities including a business center, conference space, two restaurants, two bars, a swimming pool, health club and spa.
