Choice Hotels to open Cambria in Calabasas, Calif.

The Cambria Calabasas hotel will have meeting space, a fitness center, an outdoor pool and an open-air dining patio.

Choice Hotels International signed an agreement with Rondell Oasis, which is managed by the Malibu-based Weintraub Real Estate Group, to develop a new Cambria Hotel in Calabasas, Calif. The three-story, 121-room Cambria property will be located at 26300 Rondell Road.

Expected to open in 2019, the Cambria Hotel Calabasas is adjacent to the Santa Monica mountain range with trails for hiking and mountain biking, and is within driving distance, through Malibu Canyon, to some of California's beaches. Calabasas is near a number of major corporations and tourist attractions, including DirectTV, Mattel, Universal Studios & Hollywood, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Disneyland, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Camarillo Premiere Outlet Malls and Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

"The Calabasas-Malibu Canyon region is one of the most picturesque places on the west coast, and the location continues to see a strong increase in demand for both business and leisure travelers. The Cambria Hotel will fill an unmet need in the market, particularly with its close proximity to Pepperdine University and the numerous companies in the area," Mark Shalala, VP, development, upscale brands at Choice Hotels, said in a statement. "Cambria Hotels continues to expand into key markets on the West Coast. In addition to the opening of our first property in California at Los Angeles-LAX, there are extensive growth plans in the Los Angeles area, including LA Live in the downtown area, LA Spring Street, Anaheim and Glendale."
