Development to start on Virgin Hotel Dallas this October

An 18-story Virgin Hotels & Residences is scheduled to begin construction in Dallas this fall.

The boutique and luxury condominium residence will be located in the city's Design District, and plans for the property have existed since the Virgin Group revealed its interest in a Dallas development last year. Now, developer Bill Hutchinson expects to begin work on the property this October.

"We're doing great on the project, but a lot has happened behind the scenes," Hutchinson said in a statement. "I'm new to hotel development and it's been a learning process for me. We were hoping to break ground this summer, but lately we've been looking at October."

Hutchinson is CEO of Dallas-based developer Dunhill Partners, which is behind the hotel project in collaboration with Vinculum Partners and The Crosland Group. The hotel is expected to be managed by Virgin Hotels, but the condo residences could be managed by either Virgin or a separate management group, though no definitive agreement has been made.

When completed, the property will have 210 hotel rooms and 70 condo residences, named the Virgin Residences. In addition, the hotel will also have luxury suites, restaurants and bar areas, meeting spaces and a rooftop terrace with a pool, spa and gym.
