Dubai to get fourth Element hotel in 2019

Just as its acquisition by Marriott was finalized on Friday, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced that it had signed an agreement with La Vender Real Estate to open a new Element hotel in Dubai. When it opens in 2019, the 330-room Element Dubai Al Sufouh is expected to become the fourth Element hotel in the emirate. Three other Element hotels are due to open in 2018 throughout Dubai.

“We are delighted to sign a new Element hotel with La Vender Real Estate and further strengthen the brand’s pipeline in the UAE,” said Guido de Wilde, SVP regional director, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Middle East.

The hotel will be located in the Al Sufouh area, close to the city’s major highway Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai’s premier shopping and entertainment destination, Mall of the Emirates. The property will be the tallest building of a part of a master development with 39 floors and views of the Arabian Gulf and the iconic man-made island, Palm Jumeirah.

“The Element brand is enjoying unprecedented growth and is on track to more than double its global portfolio in the next three years,“ Neil George, SVP acquisitions & development, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Africa and Middle East. “Element Al Sufouh marks our fifth Middle East signing this year under our select-serve brands, reinforcing the strong demand for mid-market hotel development in the region.”
