Hilton to open seven new hotels in Peru in three years

On the heels of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announcing two new Aloft hotels for Lima, Hilton Worldwide is set to more than double its presence in Peru over the next three years, with seven new properties opening across four brands.

The company has been "aggressively expanding" its Latin American presence, and currently has more than 90 hotels and 15,500 rooms open across the region. (This growth aided Hilton Worldwide in entering its 100th country last year.)

The hotels will be:

  • Hilton Garden Inn Lima Surco: Set to open in Q3 2016
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos: Set to open in Q1 2017
  • Hampton by Hilton Tarapoto: Set to open in Q3 2017
  • Hampton by Hilton Trujillo: Set to open in Q4 2018
  • Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores: Set to open in Q2 2019
  • Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Lima San Isidro: Dual-branded hotel, set to open in Q2 2019

These properties will join the four existing Hilton hotels currently open in Peru: the Hilton Lima Miraflores, the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Paracas—Peru, the El Pardo DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn Cusco.

Hilton Garden Inn is creating the largest footprint in the Peruvian community, with three hotels under way. Hilton Garden Inn Lima Surco, owned by Mirage Holdings, will be the first international hotel in the Santiago de Surco district of Lima, close to the U.S. Embassy.

Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores will be a 250-room hotel, and the Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites by Hilton Lima San Isidro will be a dual-branded hotel with 280 rooms between two properties: 180 Hilton Garden Inn rooms and 100 Homewood Suites rooms. This will mark the first dual-branded hotel outside of North America for these particular brands, and one of Homewood Suites' first hotels in the region since the brand developed its Latin America and Caribbean prototype in 2015. These projects will be developed and owned by T&C Developments, and managed by Hilton Worldwide.

The 86-room Hampton by Hilton Tarapoto will be owned by Inversiones Hoteleras y Turisticas del Peru, and the 94-room Hampton by Hilton Trujillo is now under construction. Both properties will be franchised.

Peru will get its third DoubleTree by Hilton in Peru next year. The 65-room DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos will be the first internationally branded hotel in the Iquitos area. The franchised hotel will be a conversion of the Hotel Dorado owned by Hotel Plaza.
