IHG signs new Crowne Plaza Adelaide opening in 2020

InterContinental Hotels Group and Kyren Group have signed a deal on the Crowne Plaza Adelaide opening in 2020, bringing the brand back to the city in Frome Central Tower One, Adelaide’s tallest building. 

The mixed-use development will have retail space, the 83-room Adelaidean residential apartments and the 326-room Crowne Plaza. Construction has already begun, making the new Crowne Plaza the only hotel under construction in the Adelaide CBD’s development pipeline. 

AccorHotels took over management of the original 308-room Crowne Plaza Adelaide in Hindmarsh Square in October 2017. The property now operates as the Pullman Adelaide, Accor's 15th Pullman in the country. 

The new Crowne Plaza Adelaide will join IHG’s portfolio of hotels in the city, which include Holiday Inn Express Adelaide City Centre and InterContinental Adelaide. The hotel group operates 47 hotels in Australia under the brands InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo brands. Another 17 hotel projects are in the pipeline for the country that will operate under the Hotel Indigo and Even Hotels brands. 

The Holiday Inn and Suites Geelong will also open in 2020. IHG is developing the 190-room hotel with Franzé Developments as part of a 20-year management agreement. The property will be the first new hotel in the city in more than 20 years as well as IHG’s first Holiday Inn hotel in the Geelong. The hotel will also have 40 suites, making this Holiday Inn the first of the brand in Australia with suites. Franzé Developments acquired the hotel’s site in April 2017 to construct the largest mixed-use development in Geelong. The site will also have retail and office space and 24 residences.

Holiday Inn Sydney St Marys recently joined IHG's portfolio in January 2018. The 119-room hotel is near the Blue Mountains, the St Marys Rugby League Club.
