In the Dolomites mountain range of northern Italy, the Adler Lodge Ritten is set to open next month as part of the Adler Hotel Group portfolio.
The hotel, a sister property to the Adler Thermae in Tuscany and Adler Lodge Alpe in Castelrotto, will be set on the Ritten plateau—a popular weekend getaway for city dwellers—and will overlook the Rosengarten and the Latemar mountain peaks. The property is reachable only by a single, limited-access road, and—like the other Adler hotels—was developed through sustainable construction following so-called Climate House standards, meeting strict criteria for both energy conservation and environmental protection. Local timber was used to construct the buildings, which are modeled after rural alpine dwellings and designed to blend into the landscape, rather than competing with it.
The hotel will consist of a main building with reception area, lobby, bar, restaurant and spa. There will be two additional structures for guest accommodations, each with 10 junior suites. The property also will have 20 one- and two-story chalets, some set around a small natural lake. All rooms will have private saunas and either balconies or terraces and wood-burning fireplaces.
All meals, soft drinks, wines and spirits will be included in the room rate, which the company is describing as an “inclusive arrangement.” (The menu is expected to focus on regional and local products and "distinctive" red and white wines.) Most ingredients will be sourced from local farmers, supporting the local community and reducing the overall carbon footprint by shortening the travel distances for deliveries.
Renon’s narrow-gauge railway, the Rittnerbahn, stops 200 meters from the hotel at the Stella station, making a car unnecessary for the visit. The city of Bolzano is a 12-minute ride away via cable car. Nearby cultural sites include the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, the 13th-century Mareccio Castle and the Duomo di Bolzano cathedral.
