Jean-Michel Gathy, principal designer at Denniston International Architects, was tasked to design the inaugural One&Only resort in Europe, One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro.
Scheduled to open in 2018, the resort will be located at the entrance to Boka Bay and will have views over the Adriatic Sea. The property will have approximately 120 guestrooms, suites and villas over 58 acres, a residential component, a marina, dining and retail options, as well as an exclusive spa in partnership with Henri Chenot.
Gathy and the team from Denniston International Architects will be responsible for the architecture and interiors, as well as the design of the exterior spaces surrounding the resort. Gathy was tasked to ensure that the property will be “luxurious, spacious and private.”
The country’s history will be reflected throughout the resort by highlighting the natural juxtaposition of elements from snow-capped mountains to lakes and coastlines.
