JLL seeks investors, operators for new hotel by Edinburgh stadium

A new hotel is in the planning stages by the BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. JLL’s hotels and hospitality group will be sourcing offers of interest in the site from potential investors and operators, with the ultimate goal of building a 100- to 200-room midscale or upper-midscale property.

“Edinburgh’s hotel market is flourishing and this is a unique opportunity to develop a hotel in a prominent location,” Keith McBain, director at JLL, said. “BT Murrayfield is the home of Scottish Rugby and very well located. We expect a high level of interest from investors and operators in developing the site.”

The successful bidder will be expected to work closely with the stadium’s conference and event service-provider, The Murrayfield Experience.

“This...will help us to develop and diversify our revenue streams for the benefit of Scottish Rugby as a whole,” Scottish Rugby’s chief executive, Mark Dodson, said.
