The Mandarin Oriental Miami is set to close May 31 to make way for a new hotel and residential development from the hotel group, set to open in 2030.
The hotel first opened 25 years ago. The property will have a series of special events over the next few months—including chef-hosted tasting menus revisiting 25 years of ‘iconic’ dishes and a grand closing gala featuring live performances and a retrospective exhibit.
Mandarin Oriental is partnering with Swire Properties for the creation of a new Mandarin Oriental, Miami and introduction of The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, both set to debut in 2030.
Comprising two towers, the South Tower will have 228 residences with interiors by designer Tristan Auer. The North Tower will house the new North American flagship Mandarin Oriental hotel, with 121 keys including 34 suites, a Spa at Mandarin Oriental and multiple intimate fine-dining and al fresco restaurants. The North Tower will also include 66 private residences and 28 hotel residences.
“For 25 years, Mandarin Oriental, Miami has been a beloved part of this vibrant city. We are deeply grateful to our guests, colleagues, and the Miami community for their loyalty and support,” Flavia Daudan-Caponi, general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Miami and area vice president, operations, said in a statement. “As we close this chapter, we look forward to celebrating our legacy and welcoming everyone to experience a haven of craftsmanship and culture for one last time.”
