Marriott plans new resort in Hainan, new Edition for Singapore

Over the past two days, Marriott International has announced two new hotels for Asia.

Marriott has signed a deal to open the Xiangshui Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, a new beach resort under the flagship Marriott Hotels brand on Southern China’s tropical holiday island of Hainan. The 144-room resort will open in two phases, with the final phase completed in early 2017.

Xiangshui Bay Marriott Resort & Spa is owned by Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed Chinese property developer Guangzhou R&F Properties.

Marriott's Edition brand is growing, tool. Ian Schrager, together with Marriott and Granmil Holdings (a joint venture by Hong Leong Holdings, CDL and Lea Investments), have agreed to build The Singapore Edition. The eight-story, 190-room hotel will be located on the former Boulevard Hotel site on Orchard Boulevard and Cuscaden Road. The property will be the brand’s fifth in the Asia Pacific market.
