New My Place to begin construction in Yakima, Wash.

Ground was broken for the My Place Hotel-Yakima, Wash., this week.

The Evergreen State welcomed its newest My Place location with a groundbreaking celebration held on Tuesday, June 13. My Place Hotel-Yakima, Wash., is the third location in Washington state and the brand’s sixth hotel in the Pacific Northwest.

Construction will soon begin on the three-story, 64-room hotel at 21 South 18th Street, where future guests will enjoy views of the Yakima River with immediate access to the Yakima Greenway and Sara Hubbard Park. Hotel guests will also enjoy access to Yakima’s downtown, Yakima Speedway and a variety of dining and retail options nearby.

The hotel is anticipated to open approximately six months after construction starts. My Place Hotel-Yakima is independently owned by Thind PMR Enterprises IV. Owners Raja and Minnie Thind are entering their first My Place venture with nearly 30 years of collective retail experience and share more than 13 years of experience within the hotel industry.

“We understood the My Place concept right away,” Thind said in a release. “It is definitely different, and we are really excited to bring My Place here! We’ve lived here for 15 years so we know this town very well, and we know our community will support us."

Terry Kline, My Place's EVP of franchise sales and development, said the brand is thrilled to welcome its firstAsian American Hotel Owners Association members to the franchise family, as well as another key Washington state location. “We have enjoyed the distinct pleasure of working with Raja and Minnie, and look forward to working with them toward the successful opening of their rst My Place hotel. Yakima and the surrounding area represent a key service and trade area that will complement our other My Place locations in Washington state and the greater Pacific Northwest region,” Kline said. “With six My Place hotels and many more on the way, the PAC NW territory continues to lead My Place’s westward expansion.”

All My Place Hotels offer modern amenities at an affordable price including nightly, weekly and monthly rate options. Each extended stay guestroom has a My Kitchen, complete with a two-burner cooktop, a microwave and a full refrigerator. The property is pet friendly, includes on-site laundry facilities, complimentary high speed internet service and a 24-hour My Store, located in the hotel lobby and stocked with an array of supplies for the guests’ convenience. Additionally, guests are invited to enjoy the new "Breakfast in Bed" offering.
