New Practice designs Chapter & Verse Hotel’s first property, eyes 2018 opening

Wuzhen, China will get the first Chapter & Verse Hotel in spring 2018.

The architecture of Chapter & Verse, designed by New York-based New Practice, will merge modernity with traditional riverside dwelling in Wuzhen. Design company Nosigner, based in Yokohama, created the branding for the hotel. Osaka-based E-Design created the hotel's landscaping. Illumination of City Environment (ICE), the lighting designer of the newly opened Hoshinoya in Tokyo, was appointed as Chapter & Verse's lighting design partner. UDS designed the hotel's main building's interior and acted as the consultant for the operation.

The property will have 30 rooms and suites, as well as two individual villas, one of which will be used as an atelier. Most of the hotel rooms will include a garden view with a private veranda or an open-air bath, an en suite bathroom, and a living room.

The Watertown scenic zone is located near the property. Shanghai and Suzhou will each be a two-hour drive away.
