Paul Basile crafts beer-centric hotel in San Diego

Craft brewery Stone Brewing is collaborating with San Diego-based Untitled Hospitality plan to launch the Stone Hotel. Located on 13 acres across the street from Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, the $26-million property slated to open in 2018 will be the brand’s first brewery hotel.

San Diego-based designer Paul Basile of Basile Studio will craft the 100,000-square-foot hotel. A driveway inlay will depict beer flowing from a tap all the way down to Citracado Parkway. There will be other nods to beer, including in the bar-style reception area and historical Stone Brewing memorabilia. There will also be a gargoyle motif throughout the property.

The 99 guestrooms, measuring more than 375 square feet apiece, will have water-saving and sustainable technologies, as well as design details like custom furniture and floor-to-ceiling window systems that open onto balconies.

For events, the hotel will have an 8,000-square-foot ballroom, a 10,000-square-foot rooftop garden and pool, and nearly an acre of outdoor space. There will similarly be a fitness center, outdoor walking trails, and a yet-to-be-announced restaurant.
