Radisson signs German debut for flagship brand

Radisson Hotel Group is bringing its flagship brand to Germany. Located in the 800-year-old university city of Rostock, the Radisson Hotel Rostock is set to open in Q3 2022. The agreement with long-term partner Friedemann Kunz Family Foundation brings the group’s German portfolio to 35 hotels and more than 8,800 rooms open and under development.

In a statement, Radisson described Germany as “a key focus country for our expansion with a remarkable development profile.” Rostock attracts more than 2 million overnight visitors each year, which the company credits to the city’s maritime and tech industries as well as the University of Rostock. The city is “one of the most important economic hubs in Northern Germany,” the statement continued. The upscale, full-service Radisson Hotel is meant to complement the group’s existing Radisson Blu hotel in Rostock.

Friedemann Kunz, CEO of the Friedemann Kunz Family Foundation, highlighted the importance of collaboration with the city and Radisson Hotel Group. "With a long-term investment approach, we have found the right partner in Radisson Hotel Group as our trusted partners in Rostock,” Kunz said in a statement. “This will create a unique ensemble in an exciting location. We are aware of the importance of this location and we thank all those involved for their support and their trust so far. As a family foundation, we invest long-term and are proud of our responsibility to the city and the region, as well as our responsibility to our employees. We are already working hard on the plans and I am looking forward to the further implementation of this project."

The Radisson Hotel Rostock will have more than 190 guestrooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop brewery bar, a lobby lounge and a gym. The hotel’s meeting space will include boardrooms and a business center covering 300 square meters.

The hotel will be in the city harbor and within walking distance of the city center. The main train station will be 2.3 kilometers from the hotel, providing connections to Berlin and Hamburg within two hours, while Rostock Airport will be 30 kilometers from the hotel.
