Starwood's Element brand begins development in Iowa

Element

Starwood Hotels & Resorts is developing a new Element Hotel in Des Moines, Iowa. The Element will be located on the northwest corner of Market Street and South Prairie View Drive.

Denver-based Silverwest Hotels is developing the hotel, which will be the first Element Hotel in Iowa and Silverwest's first project in the state. The 110-room, extended-stay hotel will have an electric vehicle charging station, a free bike rental program, a swimming pool and 24-hour fitness center, and its design will focus around natural light.

The hotel will be located in the Village of Ponderosa development, a mix of urban and suburban design elements that was stalled until being purchased by a Texas firm in 2014.
