Wyndham Hotels & Resorts slated to expand footprint across the UK

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is gearing up for expansion across the UK.

The UK is considered a top focus market for the group. Wyndham has already planned to expand the Days Inn, Ramada and Ramada Encore brands, which are the only Wyndham brands currently operating in the region, while also introducing new brands, including Wyndham Grand and Tryp by Wyndham, to the market.

“The important thing is that we find the right brands for the market and the right partners to work with,” he explained. “In every case, quality will be key. Many Brits use Wyndham brands abroad, so they will recognize them if they come here. Our single largest market in EMEA is in Germany, where we are launching Super 8, an economy brand with great room types. It certainly is a brand that could come to the UK,” Dimitris Manikis, president and managing director for Europe, Middle East, Eurasia and Africa (EMEA) of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, told The Caterer.

Manikis added that one of the group's priorities during this expansion is to employ "the right talent" in order to combat the obstacles current hospitality staff is facing during the Brexit period. Wyndham plans to continue using its School of Hospitality Operations, which provides in-person and online training for hotel staff, to hire and retain its employees.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is also spreading the news that the company has separated from its parent company Wyndham Worldwide, which has been renamed Wyndham Destinations. Now, Wyndham Hotels plans to add "by Wyndham" to all 20 of its brands within the next two years. Wyndham's three brands in the UK will be renamed Days Inn by Wyndham, Ramada by Wyndham and Ramada Encore by Wyndham. The group has 74 hotels in the UK operating under these brands. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts currently has a development pipeline of 1,000 hotels worldwide.
