Dubai master developer Nakheel has signed a deal with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide to open The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm. Slated to open in 2018, the 289-room hotel will be part of The Palm Tower, a 52-story mixed-use luxury development on Palm Jumeirah island. This signing marks the fifth St. Regis hotel to open in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement, Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East said that the signing “underlines the strong demand for high-end hotel accommodation in the UAE." The deal also makes Dubai the first city in the world with three St. Regis hotels.
One of 10 new hospitality projects by Nakheel that are underway in Dubai, St. Regis is the latest in a growing list of luxury hotel brands on Palm Jumeirah. Another Starwood property, W Dubai – The Palm, is slated for a 2017 opening. Construction on the new St. Regis is "ongoing" and completion is currently scheduled for 2018.
St. Regis made its debut in the Middle East in 2011 with The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi and has grown its portfolio in the region with The St. Regis Doha, The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, and now, the newly opened St. Regis Dubai. In 2017, the brand will enter Jordan with The St. Regis Amman and will also open its first polo resort, The St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club.
