Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco celebrates Chinese New Year with F&B offerings

The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, welcomes guests and locals alike to ring in the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 16, with curated offerings available throughout the month.

Festivities at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco will continue through Feb. 24 with the grand finale of the San Francisco Chinese New Year Festival & Parade—the oldest and largest event of its kind outside of Asia and the largest Asian cultural event in North America. 

Explore Chef Michael Rotondo’s Chinatown 

The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco is adjacent to the largest Chinatown outside of Asia complete with gift shops, teahouses, dining, bakeries and homeware shops. Guests are invited to discover the best of Chinatown’s hidden gems and time-honored favorites with a self-guided walking tour created by Parallel 37’s chef Michael Rotondo. The tour features his top eight spots, including the Chinatown Gate; The Wok Shop, where Rotondo purchases kitchen utensils; and Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory.

Chinese Afternoon Tea

In celebration of the Lunar New Year, traditional afternoon tea is reimagined with distinctive sweet and savory Chinese flavors. Guests will create new memories with family and friends while enjoying pots of tea and Chinese delights such as steamed pork bun, shrimp with Sichuan pepper, and Pekin duck. Sample sweet confections include oolong madeleines and caramelized pineapple custard tarts. The tea concludes with fortune cookies to cap off the festive experience. A vegetarian Chinese afternoon tea menu is also available with gluten- and dairy-free options.

Dim Sum Presentation

An elevated take on the popular dumplings, guests can enjoy Rotondo’s hand-crafted dim sum presentation from the comfort of the hotel’s luxurious rooms while marveling at the picturesque views of the city and the San Francisco Bay. Consisting of savory steamed and fried dumplings with various fillings, guests can select from delectable dishes such as jade dumpling, shrimp dumpling, chicken siu mai and more.
