A 88-room Hampton Inn by Hilton hotel will be created from an £11-million redevelopment of a former office block on West Campbell Street in Glasgow, Scotland. It wil be Hilton Worldwide's first Scottish Hampton hotel.
Hilton Worldwide has agreed to a franchise deal with SCOT Sheridan and Curo West Campbell LLP, and redevelopment work is expected to complete by late summer.
Hilton Worldwide had announced plans last year to open 23 Hampton by Hilton outlets across the UK by 2015.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, SVP of development for Europe and Africa with Hilton Worldwide, said: “Hilton Worldwide has a strong presence in Glasgow, led by our flagship Hilton Glasgow which last year celebrated its 20th anniversary. Visitor numbers to the city are expected to grow by up to one million a year until 2016 so the time is right to go on to expand our portfolio here. Having successfully opened Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre two years ago we are delighted to be providing further choice for guests seeking affordable, quality, centrally located accommodation with our debut Hampton by Hilton.”
David MacLachlan, a director with commercial property specialist SCOT Sheridan, said: “We are delighted that our extensive commercial property expertise and experience with the Business Premises Renovation Allowance scheme is helping to transform an empty office building into a stunning new home for one of the world’s leading hospitality brands, creating much-needed jobs and helping to attract visitors to Scotland’s largest city.”
