McKibbon Hospitality, the owner and managing company of Aloft Asheville (N.C.) Downtown, appointed Drew Walls its general manager. Walls replaced David McCartney, the hotel’s GM of more than five years, who left to serve as general manager for Hotel Arras in downtown Asheville.

Walls, who started in hospitality 25 years ago as a front-desk manager, joined the Aloft after nearly 10 years at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, where he worked as director of operations. Over his career, he has served as director of room operations for the Marriott Charleston (W.Va.) Town Center, front-office manager for the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld and director of room operations at the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Marriott at the Convention Center and the Renaissance Savery Hotel in Des Moines, Iowa.

“We are very excited to welcome Drew into the Aloft Asheville Family and look forward to him adding to the culture and service of the hotel,” Karl Oates, McKibbon Hospitality’s vice president of lifestyle hotels, said in a statement.

Aloft Asheville Downtown is located in the heart of Asheville, near the River Arts District. It features 115 guestrooms, a lobby lounge, a bar and an outdoor pool and cabana area.
