Even Hotel Miami Airport adds Armando Hernandez as chief wellness officer

Even Hotel Miami Airport, which is slated to open October 2018 as the Even brand’s first property in the Southeastern United States, appointed Armando Hernandez as chief wellness officer. Equal to a general manager role at a traditional hotel, Hernandez’s responsibilities include overseeing operations at the new property, as well as sales, marketing and food & beverage. Additionally, as chief wellness officer, he will also ensure the brand pillars – Eat Well, Rest Easy, Keep Active and Accomplish More – are manifested throughout the guest experience.

Hernandez has a career track with more than 20 years in the hospitality industry. His management experience began at Tecton Hospitality, where he spent 11 years as GM between properties such as Best Western South Miami, The Betsy Ross Hotel, The Strand Ocean Drive and Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel & Conference Center, all properties located in South Florida. In 2010, Hernandez went on to work for Hospitality Ventures, serving as GM for Ramada Hialeah-Miami Airport North where he exceeded the house profit by 44.81 percent in 2012.

Hernandez then joined Trust Hospitality in 2015 as GM of Best Western on the Bay and was responsible for a $4 million property renovation, rebranding decisions, facility upgrades, providing strategic operational insight in driving room sales and occupancy growth and profits for the hotel. During this time, he maintained a 49 percent flow through rate for the 118-room property.

Even Hotel Miami Airport began development earlier this year, and is expected to open its doors in October 2018. The brand was designed to help travelers "Eat Well, Rest Easy, Keep Active and Accomplish More," and Even Hotels offers wellness-minded travelers more options to maintain their wellness routine while away from home.
