Marriott International appointed Michael Wlodkowski as GM of The Westin New York at Times Square, an 873-room luxury hotel in Manhattan’s Times Square. Wlodkowski is returning to New York after a nearly 20-year run in California; he was most recently the hotel manager of the JW Marriott L.A. Live.
Wlodkowski’s career, which spans more than 30 years with Marriott, includes a stint at the New York Marriott Marquis, where he was recognized at the manager of the year for his customer service. Here he led a team of 30 managers, who supervised 350 associates and the tremendous back-of-house operations, at this 1900-plus room flagship property. From there Wlodkowski moved to California where he held a number of positions, including director of event management, front office manager, director of operations and ultimately GM. Wlodkowski led teams at properties including the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, Santa Clara Marriott, JW Marriott San Francisco, San Diego Marriott Del Mar and the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport. During his first time as a GM at the San Diego Marriott Del Mar the hotel was recognized with the regional awards for both leadership and financial excellence. Later, at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel, Wlodkowski was honored with an accolade for general manager revenue management leadership.
The Westin New York at Times Square and JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live share many similarities, from room count to city-center locations. Wlodkowski previously maintained The Ritz-Carlton's standards in the dual-branded JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live.
In his new role, Wlodkowski will oversee hotel operations for what was the very first Westin in New York City when it opened in 2002. The property is located in the center of Times Square, and is within walking distance of more than 40 theaters and countless attractions.
The Westin New York at Times Square is located at 270 W. 43rd St. in New York City. The hotel includes the Foundry Kitchen & Bar, and is interconnected to a 200,000-square-foot entertainment and retail complex including movie theaters, restaurants and shopping. The Westin New York at Times Square was named one of America’s Top 10 Healthiest Hotels by Health magazine, and is a certified Gold member of the Green Hotels Association.
