Industry vet becomes new VP of Fairmont brand

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of Jane Mackie as VP of the Fairmont brand.

Mackie will lead the Fairmont brand, developing brand strategy, focusing on refining and articulating the brand positioning and communicating Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand messaging. As part of her responsibilities, Mackie will also define strategies to enhance Fairmont's competitive position in the luxury hotel segment.

"I’ve had the pleasure to work with Jane in the past and I am delighted to have the opportunity to welcome her to FRHI to lead our Fairmont brand,” said Jennifer Fox, president, FRHI International and Fairmont Brand. “Jane is a true brand leader; she’s a very creative and strategic individual and I’m confident that under her leadership the Fairmont brand will continue to evolve in a way that is meaningful to our guests, colleagues and owners. Also, her extensive experience marketing hotels and residences, paired with her proven track record in reinvigorating brands, puts us in an excellent position as we continue to differentiate the Fairmont brand in the global luxury hotel market."

The move comes on the heels of the September announcement by FRHI, the parent company of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Raffles Hotels & Resorts and Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, of several appointments to its senior leadership team. The management changes, which included executive appointments and newly created roles in the areas of operations, sales and marketing and human resources, are also aligned with the company’s move to a new divisional structure.

Mackie brings over 20 years of hospitality experience to her new role including work in sales and marketing, brand strategy, partnerships and revenue generation. She began her career at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and held a series of executive positions over her 11 years with the company, including VP, advertising and promotions, North America, and VP, marketing, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.

Other past roles included VP of marketing for Loews Hotels, Viceroy Hotels and Resorts and Cape Advisors/Cape Resorts Group. In 2011, she joined Club Quarters as staff vice president, revenue planning.

Mackie holds a MBA from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Bachelors Degree in Economics from Brown University.
