McKibbon promotes vice president of asset management

James Merrihew has been promoted to vice president of asset management for McKibbon. Merrihew will be responsible for overseeing asset-level business planning, capital allocation decisions, renovation and investment strategies, and portfolio growth initiatives while ensuring properties are meeting financial goals, brand standards, and performance expectations.

He will also support major capital events, including acquisitions, dispositions and large-scale capital expenditure projects, while managing relationships with brands, lenders, and brokers to support the company’s long-term investment strategy.

“Throughout his time with McKibbon, James Merrihew has played an integral role in monitoring and assessing the performance of the McKibbon-owned portfolio, implementing positioning strategies, and supporting capital improvement initiatives,” McKibbon Equities President J.B. McKibbon said in a statement. “His deep understanding of hotel operations and asset performance makes him well positioned to guide the continued growth and success of our portfolio in this expanded role.”

Merrihew joined McKibbon in 2021 as asset manager and was promoted to senior asset manager in 2023. Prior to joining McKibbon, he held on-property leadership roles with White Lodging. His operational experience at the property level gave him valuable firsthand insight into hotel performance, team leadership, guest experience, and day-to-day operations, providing a strong foundation for his transition into asset management.
