IHG to open a Holiday Inn near the Taj Mahal

InterContinental Hotels Group has signed a management agreement with Hotel Marina Agra to open the Holiday Inn Agra MG Road. 

The 150-room Hotel Marina is slated to be rebranded under the Holiday Inn chain and will reopen following renovations in 2018. The signing marks the company’s entry into the Agra market. Holiday Inn Agra MG Road is near UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as Agra Fort and Taj Mahal, along with district and key government offices.

The signing follows IHG's deal with SDB Developers in early June 2018 to open a second Holiday Inn property in Kolkata, India. Ninety of Holiday Inn Resort Kolkata NH6's 110 guestrooms will begin operating by the end of 2018. However, the property will is set to have the additional 20 guestrooms operating by 2020. The new hotel in Uluberia will be near Kolkata's city center, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, the National Highway and the Orissa Trunk Road.

The new Holiday Inn will be added to the brand's portfolio of 12 hotels across India. These operate in Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Chochin, Goa, New Delhi, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Panchkula and Pune. The next Holiday Inn open slated to open in India is the Holiday Inn Tirupati Tirumala near Tirupati International Airport.
