InterContinental Hotels Group has announced its fourth new hotel deal since the start of the year, a Crowne Plaza in Barcelona, which would be the first of the brand in Spanish the city.
IHG said in a statement yesterday it had signed a franchise agreement with Hotel Fira. Crowne Plaza Barcelona Fira Center will be converted from an existing building to a 276-room hotel and will open by the end of March. With 3,000 square metres of meeting space, the hotel will have the largest conference and meeting facilities across the entire portfolio of Crowne Plaza properties in Europe.
At the beginning of this month, IHG announced the opening of its third Crowne Plaza hotel in Phoenix.
The Crowne Plaza pipeline currently stands at 100 hotels.
In other brand news, IHG announced the opening of its first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 101-room new-build hotel is the second Holiday Inn Express to open in Indonesia in the last three months.
