The Hospitality Show: Q&A with No Vacancy News founder and host Glenn Haussman

The Hospitality Show, now in its second year, will take place at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio from Oct. 28-30. The Show will bring together 5,000 attendees and promises to drive profitability for owners, operators and hospitality innovators through dedicated content, extensive networking and 400+ operations and technology vendors.

In this installment of The Hospitality Show Advisory Board Member Q&A, we catch up with Glenn Haussman, founder & host, No Vacancy News.

What do you think is the biggest problem for the industry currently?

Grappling with technology in a way that removes customer friction without removing humanity in the process. If we cannot keep creating personalized moments driven by people we will lose customer loyalty and become a fungible product.

What new trends do you see affecting the hospitality industry the most in 2024?

Understanding how to make the successful shift to a revenue-per-customer mindset rather than one focused on [revenue per available room].

What do you see as the biggest opportunities for the industry this year?

Extended-stay hotel development, of course. However, the real winners will be getting deals done for irreplaceable assets in currently underperforming urban markets.

What do you think the industry's biggest accomplishment has been in the past year?

Not sure there was one for the “industry,” but the mergers I’ve been seeing are inexorably reshaping the hotel business.

What are you most looking forward to at The Hospitality Show?

Seeing how the event continues to unify the distinct industry silos.
