London's Stansted Airport to get a Hampton as part of £260M plan

London-based developer Urban&Civic has signed a franchise agreement with Hilton Worldwide to open a Hampton by Hilton hotel at the Stansted Airport. Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year and the hotel is poised to open in the summer of 2017.

According to the Ipswich Star, Urban&Civic secured planning permission for a hotel following a deal to acquire the two-acre site from the property division of Stansted’s owner, Manchester Airports Group. The hotel is part of MAG’s £260 million investment plan to attract more passengers and airlines to Stansted, including long-haul services.

The 357-room hotel will connect directly to the airport terminal and will join the Hilton, Radisson Blu, Holiday Inn and Premier Inn hotels already operating at Stansted, bringing the total number of bedrooms on the site to more than 1,600.

The UK currently has 16 Hampton by Hilton hotels, with 17 more under development.
