Canada's PHI Hotel Group opens 3 Alberta hotels

Canadian development and commercial real estate company PHI Hotel Group has opened three Marriott-brand hotels in Alberta: the 247-room Westin Calgary Airport and Conference Centre and the dual-brand 142-room Four Points Edmonton West with the 77-room Element Edmonton West.

The three properties are owned by PHI Hotel Group and Siksika Resource Development Ltd., a company that drives revenue to the Alberta-based Siksika Nation (a member of the Blackfoot Confederacy), and are managed by PHI Hotel Group.

“This strategic partnership brings three distinct brands to the Alberta market, including the first Element to open in Edmonton,” said Sukhi Rai, president of PHI Hotel Group. “The Westin Calgary Airport Hotel and Conference Centre, and particularly the capacity of the meeting space will fill a gap in the Calgary Airport area, better serving the meeting and convention segment. We are excited to serve the needs of these diverse and exciting cities.”

“With the opening of the Westin Calgary Airport and Conference Centre and dual-brand Four Points and Element Edmonton West, Siksika Hospitality has positioned the Nation well for long-term growth financially, as well as in career development for Nation members in the hospitality and tourism sectors of Western Canada,” said Tom Many Heads, president and CEO of SRDL Business Group.

The Group maximizes revenues generated from the management and development of renewable and non-renewable resources and provides Siksika Nation shareholders with a return on current and future investments.

The Westin Calgary Airport Hotel and Conference Centre is close to the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, Telus Spark and the Calgary Tower. The property has more than 30,000 square feet of function space, including the largest hotel-attached ballroom in Calgary at more than 16,000 square feet.

The Element and Four Points Edmonton West will share an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, open multipurpose public spaces and two meeting rooms with 3,347 square feet of space to accommodate functions of up to 100 persons.
