Courtyard by Marriott opens in Bowie, Md.

The 144-room Courtyard by Marriott Bowie opened its doors in Bowie, Md. on Dec. 21 at 16800 Science Drive.

Owned and managed by Hospitality Development Company III the hotel offers guests access to Bowie State University, Six Flags America, the United States Naval Academy and FedEx Field, and is 20 minutes from Washington, D.C .and 40 minutes from downtown Baltimore.

Courtyard's latest room design offers hybrid zones for working, sleeping, relaxing and getting ready. Indirect lighting and a neutral, tone-on-tone color palette makes for a soothing and calm environment.

“From day one, Courtyard has prided itself as a brand that listens to business travelers,” Janis Milham, SVP and global brand leader, classic select brands, said in a statement. “Today’s technology has changed how people travel. Our guests want a room that has purpose and flexibility that enables a seamless transition between relaxing and working. Courtyard is designed to offer them a relaxing and functional space to work the way they want to, when they want to.”

The Courtyard Bowie features the brand’s latest lobby design, which includes an updated Bistro located in the center of the lobby and offers guests a variety of “made to order” breakfast and dinner items, “grab and go” options and also an array of cocktails, beer and wine.

A business library is also available, and offers several computer terminals, along with a printer and separate computer stations dedicated solely to printing airline boarding passes and checking flight status.

The five-story hotel contains an indoor swimming pool, fitness center and guest laundry, and offers four meeting rooms with 2,200 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 350 people.
