Dual Fairfield Inn/SpringHill Suites opens in New York City

A dual-branded Fairfield Inn and SpringHill Suites opened in New York City at the site of the former Christ Church Presbyterian Church. McSam Hotel Group bought the historic property and led development.

The two hotels together offer 570 guestrooms. Besides an entrance, they share a bar, a 24-hour fitness center and a 2,000-square-foot meeting and event space that can accommodate up to 135 people. The hotels’ location in the Garment District provides quick access to Madison Square Garden, The Javits Center, Broadway, Hudson Yards and the Empire State Building.

The Fairfield Inn & Suites half of the property features 286 rooms and the SpringHill Suites half offers 284 rooms. Guestrooms at the SpringHill Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square South include separate living and sleeping areas.

The original Christ Church opened in 1905. In its time, it operated the Sick Children’s Aid Society, accommodated sailors and soldiers during World War I, served as the strike headquarters for the Ladies’ Apparel Shipping Clerks Union and hosted the Circle Theatre Company. In 1975, the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health took over the property. The new hotel keeps the historic church’s windowed chapel wall.
