Hilton brings Curio Collection to Mexico City

Hilton has opened the Umbral hotel, bringing its Curio Collection soft brand to Mexico City.

“As we continue to strategically expand our presence across Latin America, Mexico remains a priority as one of our fastest-growing markets in the region,” said Jorge Giannattasio, SVP/head of operations, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. The collection will open its second hotel in the market later this year.

Part of a program to restore historic buildings in Mexico, the 59-room Umbral, Curio Collection by Hilton is a restoration of a heritage building that was constructed in 1924. Situated in downtown Mexico City, the hotel overlooks the  Metropolitan Cathedral, the County Hall and El Palacio de Hierro Department Store. The Zocalo Main Square is two blocks away and the Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juarez is less than five miles from the property.

Hilton currently has a portfolio of nearly 150 open hotels and resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America, with a pipeline of more than 90 hotels throughout the region, including approximately 30 properties in Mexico.
