Hyatt adds Algeria to African footprint

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened the first Hyatt hotel in Algeria. The Hyatt Regency Algiers Airport is operated under a management agreement with Société d'Investissement Hôtelière EPE SPA and joins Hyatt’s existing seven properties in Africa: the Hyatt Place Taghazout Bay and Hyatt Regency Casablanca in Morocco, Park Hyatt Zanzibar and Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, Hyatt Regency Johannesburg in South Africa and the recently opened Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Located at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, the 320-room hotel is close to the newest terminal and is the only hotel linked to the terminal.

Pascal Leprou, the hotel’s general manager, noted that Algeria is a growing commercial hub for Africa. “We anticipate a strong reception of the property from both the region as well as international travelers,” he said.

Public spaces at the hotel include dedicated airline lounges, a Regency Club lounge, three dining venues, a swimming pool and a 23,680-square-foot lobby. For business functions, the hotel has more than 10,000 square feet of meeting space across 13 dedicated rooms.
