IHG opens first HIEx in Playa del Carmen

IHG has opened the new-build, 91-room Holiday Inn Express & Suites Playa del Carmen, marking the brand’s debut in the destination.

The opening follows an investment of more than $8 million by owner Litore Maya S. A. de C.V. The hotel is located downtown and within walking distance to the beach.

According to Gerardo Murray, regional VP/brands and marketing, Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean, IHG, the opening would boost the company's presence in one of the preferred travel spots in the Mayan Riviera. "This hotel is a significant addition to our portfolio in Mexico," he said.

The Holiday Inn Express has 34 standard rooms and 57 suites. Public space includes a rooftop pool, 24-hour fitness center, guest laundry facilities, a business center and two meeting rooms.

Managed by Marca Hotel Solutions, S.A. de C.V., the hotel is franchised by an affiliate of IHG.
