Minor Hotels' Tivoli brand to open ecoresort in Portugal

Minor Hotels brand Tivoli Hotels & Resorts is set to open its first property in Évora, Portugal.

The Tivoli Évora Ecoresort is slated to open in the third quarter of 2018. The property, which currently operates as the Ecorkhotel, Évora–Suites & Spa, is on the plains of Portugal’s south-central Alentejo region. The hotel is near the center of Évora–a UNESCO World Heritage Site–the Alqueva Reservoir Dark Sky Reserve and the capital of Lisbon.

The 56-room hotel is designed as a sustainably built property. As part of a refurbishment program, a new villa with nine guestrooms and a private outdoor swimming pool will be added to the resort.

"This ecoresort is a perfect complement to our portfolio in the country and represents our arrival in a fascinating region where tourism has grown sustainably. This launch is an important step in the expansion of Tivoli and Minor Hotels in Portugal,” said Marco Amaral, VP of operations and development in Europe and South America for Minor Hotels in a statement.

The new Tivoli resort will join the brand's portfolio of 13 hotels and resorts operating in Portugal, Brazil and Qatar. Nine of these hotels operate across Portugal in Algarve, Coimbra, Lisbon and Sintra.

The brand is planning to launch more new properties in Qatar and Brazil before the end of the year. They will operate near Minor Hotels’ 12 other properties in Portugal, Brazil and Qatar, which operate under the Anantara, The Residences, Avani and Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli brands.
