stayAPT Suites opens first property, plans further growth

New brand stayAPT Suites, which launched in January, has opened its first property.

The first location opened Oct. 1 in Goldsboro, N.C. The next locations will be in Alexandria-Fort Belvoir, Va.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Greer, S.C.; Greenville, S.C.; and Houston, all set to open over the fall and winter.

In total, the Matthews, N.C.-based brand has more than 18 hotels on track to open in the coming months.

StayAPT Suites has plans to complete 100 corporate-owned and more than 200 franchised locations throughout the country within the next five years. The brand will offer two- and three-story construction models ranging from 59 to 89 units. The development has no restricted territories and is designed to fit in primary, secondary and tertiary markets.

Though the brand’s first year of openings is focused on the South, the company's CEO and President Gary DeLapp told Hotel Management earlier this year that he aims to take it “coast to coast,” and was looking at a couple of projects in the Midwest and some out West.

The brand also emphasizes an efficient labor model, which calls for an average of 2.5 to five employees per property. The flexible prototype sizes and efficient land usage can fit on sites ranging from 1.8 to 2.1 acres in size.
