Five hotels, on top of the five we covered earlier this week, have appointed new general managers.
The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco has named Yael Ron general manager. Before joining the 336-room hotel a week ago, Ron served as general manager for The Ritz-Carlton, Cleveland. There she oversaw and managed a $40 million property improvement plan and developed strategies that drove a $100 rise in average daily rate. Before that she held roles in sales and marketing with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, IHG and Hilton.
Pendry Hotels & Resorts has named David Hoffman GM of California’s upcoming Pendry West Hollywood and Pendry Residences West Hollywood by Montage Hotels & Resorts. Hoffman will oversee operations for the entire mixed-use project. Slated to open in 2020, the development will include 149 guestrooms and the 40 Pendry residences, as well as multiple food-and-beverage spaces, a live entertainment venue, a screening room and a bowling alley. Hoffman has worked with Montage International for more than 16 years, largely as a resort or general manager.
Civana, a wellness resort in Carefree, Ariz., has appointed Sandy Burkett GM. Burkett has spent the last 16 years of her career with Kimpton Hotels, serving as a general manager during for 15 of those years. Before that, Burkett spent three years in operations and nearly eight in sales.
Outrigger Hospitality Group has named Sheryl Tsugawa GM of the Ohana Waikiki Malia by Outrigger in Hawaii. Since joining Outrigger as a sales and marketing manager years ago, Tsugawa has served as assistant GM for the Outrigger-managed Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk and the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort.
The Alexander, A Dolce Hotel has promoted its director of sales and marketing, Barry Cockrum, to GM. Before first joining the 209-room Indianapolis hotel in 2013, Cockrum worked as a senior account executive at the JW Marriott Indianapolis and director of sales and marketing at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown and the Detroit Marriott at Centerpoint.
