Embassy Suites Hotel to open March 3 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Tuscaloosa will soon complete the latest edition to its downtown redevelopment efforts, when the new $31 million Embassy Suites Hotel opens Tuesday, March 3.

The eight story, all-suite hotel is located on University Boulevard between Greensboro Avenue and Lurleen Wallace Boulevard. The planning for the development reportedly started decades ago, with the goal being to score a major hotel for downtown that would facilitate events and offer business-class visitors and event visitors a place to stay in close proximity to the different high schools, colleges and event spaces around the city.

Inside the hotel, visitors will also be able to sample signature dishes at a ground-floor restaurant developed by Chris Hastings, owner of the Birmingham-based Hot and Hot Fish Club and winner of the 2012 James Beard Award for Best Chef of The South.
