The Hospitality Show: Q&A with Oracle Hospitality's Alex Alt

The first of its kind, The Hospitality Show is a bold new event for the entire hospitality ecosystem with one shared goal: operating hotels efficiently and profitably. Brought to you by The American Hotel & Lodging Association and Hotel Management, the event will bring together top industry leaders, senior executives of hotel brands, owners, operators, management companies and procurement specialists—and their teams—to discover, network and drive profitability.

Business accelerates when the right people are in the room, and this new weekly series of speaker interviews goes 1:1 with the industry’s best and brightest as they build the inaugural event to be held June 27-29 at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.

In this installment, we catch up with The Hospitality Show Speaker Alex Alt, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Hospitality.

What solutions or tools will you be sharing at The Hospitality Show?

In booth #619, we are looking forward to sharing Oracle’s complete set of solutions that encompass everything from brand functions to property functions and brings the front office and back office closer together. This will include the Oracle Hospitality Opera Cloud property management system and Micros Simphony Cloud point-of-sale, in addition to the Opera Cloud sales and event management, Opera distribution, and Nor1 upsell solution. Oracle solutions for finance and HR including enterprise resource planning, NetSuite, and human capitol management will also be shown.

We will also be featuring the Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform which helps brands stay competitive and agile by enabling them to ‘plug-in’ capabilities into Opera Cloud. These modern integrations help brands optimize their online and in-house operations, streamlining service and paving the way for deeper insights and richer daily reports. Many of these validated OHIP integrations will also be on hand at The Hospitality Show for you to see in person.

How have these solutions or tools been linked to profitable hotel operations?

Our cloud-based hardware, software, and services are increasingly popular in the industry, and have helped enable customers to act on rich data insights that deliver personalized guest experiences, increase staff efficiency, improve profitability, and encourage loyalty.

A growing number of innovative hoteliers are taking initiative to fundamentally change the way they operate their hotels and best serve their guests, and together our solutions can help hoteliers accelerate innovation, increase revenue, lower IT cost, and maximize operating efficiency.

What is one key takeaway Show attendees can expect to gain from your session with the CEOs of Hyatt and United Airlines, “Chasing Loyalty… Who’s Winning?”

I’m incredibly excited to be moderating this particular session.  There are so many parallels with Airlines and Hotels that we can explore.  And Mark Hoplamazian and Scott Kirby are the perfect pair to get real.  I don’t want to spoil anything….let’s just say we plan for this to be the session everyone talks about.

What about Robert Peterson’s session, “Technology Meets F&B Operations?"

Guests who attend the session Oracle's Robert Peterson is participating in can expect to gain a new understanding of how restaurant technologies are evolving and continuing to transform the entire food and beverage industry, including restaurants located within hotels.

Whether it is dine-in, take away, or delivery, he’ll detail how modern technology has created a societal shift in the way consumers interact with restaurants, leading businesses to eye new ways to capitalize on this accelerated adoption, future-proofing their operations. This revolution is also helping restaurateurs by enabling brands to innovate quickly with emerging technologies such as ghost kitchens, kiosks, robotics, AI, and machine learning.

I don’t want to give it all away, but Peterson’s session will help detail how business owners can invest in the right technologies for their business, and how those technologies can drive revenue and build brand loyalty.
