IHG to take over management, rebrand the Sheraton Park Chennai, India

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) signing a contract with Adyar Gate Hotels, the owners of Sheraton Park in Chennai, India, to replace ITC in managing the hotel. ITC was managing the property until recently. After IHG assumes charge of the management, the hotel will be rechristened as Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park.

IHG signed the 286-room Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park with Adyar Gate Hotels, the owners of Sheraton Park. According to an IHG statement, the hotel will be rebranded, marking the entry of the company’s Crowne Plaza brand into the city.

The hotel joins Holiday Inn Express Chennai Mahindra World City, making it the second IHG hotel in Chennai. Located in the city’s central business district, the hotel bears additional significance for IHG as it was originally the site of the company’s first Holiday Inn to open in India in the 1970s.
